Careers / AI Automation Engineer
AI Automation Engineer
Can you actually build with AI? We're looking for engineers who connect models to real business systems — APIs, webhooks, CRM automation, data pipelines, and end-to-end workflows. Builders, not prompt tourists.
What you'll build
You take an objective, map the systems involved, and ship a working automation — not a slide deck.
- Connect LLMs and AI APIs to CRMs, inboxes, and internal tools
- Design reliable workflows with webhooks, queues, and retries
- Normalize incoming data and trigger the right automated actions
- Prototype agents and assistants that do real work, then harden them
- Instrument and monitor so failures are visible early
- Document what you built so the next person can run it
- Partner with PMs and operators inside a POD to keep delivery moving
What we look for
Knowing AI vocabulary isn't enough. We want people who can make systems work end to end.
- Solid software fundamentals (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar)
- Hands-on with REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication flows
- Experience wiring AI/LLM APIs, agents, or workflow automation into real products
- Comfort debugging messy integrations (logs, payloads, edge cases)
- Clear written English and habit of documenting decisions
- Self-directed: you research, try, and ship without step-by-step babysitting
How we work
You join a small POD with clear ownership — not a giant org chart. Work stays visible in Basecamp, and delivery beats theater.
Small PODs
Technical, creative, and ops skills sit together around one outcome.
Async-first
Write it down in Basecamp. Updates are clear without endless meetings.
Ship, then improve
Working systems first. Polish and documentation follow close behind.
